Principles of Heat Transfer
Fundamental of heat transfer can be best described with three principles :
| Conduction |
It is direct heat flow through matter by physical contact. Heat conducts through materials in direct contact with each other with the heat travell from the hotter area to the cooler part. |
| Convection |
It is the passage of the heat through the flow of air. When the air is heated, the density of the air molecules is lower, therefore the air rise. The density of cool air is higher and tends to move downwards. |
| Radiation |
The transfer of electromagnetic rays through space. It is also referred as infrared heat that moves from a hot to a relatively cold area, independent on the air in between. |
